Spanish painter with real name Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech, known as Salvador Dali lived through 1904 - 1989, was one of the great artists of the surrealist movement. From an early age, Dali was encouraged to practice his art and by 1919, the young artist had his first public exhibition. The artist, with his diverse lifestyle and well-recognized mustache had an extraordinary gift for artistic expression and thrived on the acquisition of knowledge, absorbing influences both from other artists and from contemporary philosophy and science. Sigmund Freud influenced his way of perception so deeply that his paintings make the viewers feel as in a state of dream. After meeting with Pablo Picasso, Dali had further established his style. In his 1964 painting, “Soft Watch at the Moment of First Explosion" insignificance of time during sleep was emphasized as dreams distort and displace time, leaving only memory in its place.
